Hey gang, I know I just shotgun posted all over the forum, this is my last one I swear.
John Ahlberg and I are thinking of doing a campaign of a great game called Diplomacy. The nature of this game is one of intrigue and deceit.
It takes place during World War One, a war were armies were very equal, and boarder disputes were the name of the game. For the most part very little changed because of World War One. It set into motion great events that would change the world, but if you look at a map, not much happened.
In Diplomacy, each army is just as powerful as the other. Turns are played out in season (Winter 1901 Spring 1901 etc) and when armies clash it repersents huge fronts. Trenches digging in, assaults, bayonet charges, reinforcements coming in to releave beligered troops, rallying the local populace etc. So armies tend to "bounce off" eachother, unless the attacking army is able to overpower the defender nothing happens. Armies are so big in this game that they are limited. An entire country can only have one army in it, and you only start out with a few armies large enough to destabalise a country. It usually means, you need a friend. Your friends can aid your attacks, but since all moves are made simotaneously it is an oppurtunity for backstabbing and betrayal.
This is a great game for diplomats, strategists, and those who like to spice up their life with some dirty politics. If you are interested let me know. You would have a week to give orders and put them in a replica period haversack. On Sundays, John and I would make the moves ordered by the generals.
SPACE IS FILLING UP FAST ONLY 4 PLACES LEFT. If you want to play this you need to be mature enough to accept backstabs in a friendly mannner. You need to take what you dish out.
Please call me at 570-6103 if you are interested.
