Hi All,
Hey, I just got to play my first two games of Confrontation using my Orcs in the first game and then their hated enemies, the Dirz, in the second and somehow, I managed to win both times.
However, I do not love this game based on a mere two games and what I am sure will be a short lived winning streak. No, I love this game because for a skirmish game with so much flavor and really cool/sweet/sick miniatures, it seems to be pretty well balanced and the combat resolution, while not the simplist I've seen, is solid and basically intuitive.
The Symbols on the Unit cards are not all that intuitive however, but after my first two battles, that only took about an hour and 45 minutes (I'm a total Newb, remember), I pretty much have them down. This means that even a knucklehead like me can pick this game up in an evening! Now it is true that the games I was in did not use any Magic and this is sure to muck things up a bit, but Shane has assured me that it is not that difficult to integrate the Magic phase once you have the basics down. I look forward to many more great Thursday Confrontation Nights at the Fortress.
If you have not already seen this miniature line you really should check it out. I have a few catalogs down at the shop for your conveniance and the Fortress features Rackham Game Nights on Thursdays, so if you are interested, swing by one Thursday and see for yourself what is happening. There are enough players and armies around now, that you could easily find a good pick-up game.
Also, I do not carry very much of this huge line, but can order it on a weekly basis if need be and with its current popularity may slowly build up the store's stock so that you can take a look at these awesome figs first hand and perhaps even buy some...hehe
'Til Next Time,
Scott
