I don't play guard, but I love the army. What are you all bringing to the combat patrol? Am I going to see a sea of bodies, or an elite few.
Matt Onkin tried just storm troopers with some Grey Knights and it worked nicely, even though the Grey Knights, got grey backhanded. I couldn't stop the rush.

Hey guys. I am still bringing the storm trooper army on patrol. I decided to drop the grey knights and take more storm troopers. I hope I can get everything painted by then.

If you havn't already tried to paint your grey knights you can just drybrush them and then do the details but it ends up looking rather nice if you ever saw mine

Ben is just trying to get a leg up on the competition here. But just to let you know, but loads of infantry and a stromtrooper squad. Beware of the "Flashlights of Doom!!"

Oh yeah Josh you know me anything to win... Chris Felix's unead horde army was kicking some major butt, even against the Eldar Star-Cannon line. I didn't know if Guard Players were going to take the same tactic or if they were going to take less troops in order to take the armoured Chimera.
Personally after seeing several games being played, I would take a Chimera. At least two of the boards have sections that are fairly open so getting infantry through will be rough especially if you don't have a lot of troops, like in a stormtrooper army. Matt Onkin did a storm trooper army with the support of Grey Knights, and it did fairly well, but there was a lot of cover on that board.
Me, so you don't think I am taking an advantage, my list is on the Chaos board.

Here is the thing with a Chimera. For a survivable Chimera (extra armor, track guards and smoke launchers) is 105 points. If I chose to stay mechanized, no way I couold do it, 400 points is spent on 2 squads, and no points are left for HQ and thier Chimera. I don't think it really pays either to mount one part of your already small guard army and put them away from the majority of your force. It would be nice to have a transport to shoot the crap out of stuff, but at the end of the battle, It is not a scoring unit. That is 105 points I have wasted, only to kill some of the enemy. I figure I can do it just as well with "Flashlights of Doom".
BTW, that is your choice you put your list up. If you noticed, all I did was a brief and vague explantion of my list. Good luck on Saturday to all.
